Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Stormwater Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll design, develop, and maintain stormwater management systems that protect our community from flooding, erosion, and water pollution. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on the environment and public safety in a growing suburban landscape.
Responsibilities- Supports the design of stormwater, drainage, and water storage/conveyance projects.
- Oversees the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, modeling, analysis, and reports.
- Ensures projects are delivered within scope, budget, and schedule while meeting quality standards.
- Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to execute project tasks effectively.
- Prepares presentations to communicate information and provides updates on major projects and initiatives to City Management, City Council, and the community.
- Responds to public inquiries regarding work performed by maintenance crews and stormwater systems.
- Meets and corresponds with various citizens, professionals, businesses, and other groups to address issues related to public works.
- Responsible for contracts related to stormwater functions.
- Coordinates with City departments such as Community Development, and Recreation and Parks for execution and collaboration to deliver stormwater initiatives and capital projects.
- Maintains a current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, regulations, and best practices related to stormwater.
- Assures compliance with local, state, and federal standards and associated inspections related to stormwater.
- Stay current on industry trends, policies, and best practices in stormwater management.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- EIT certification or ability to obtain.
- 1-6 years of experience in hydrology and hydraulic analysis, drainage design, and watershed modeling.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Professional Engineering License.
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia.
- Ability to travel to facilities and external agencies as needed.
- Availability to respond to emergency stormwater issues during or outside of regular work hours.
- Experience in stormwater and drainage engineering design and modeling.
- Ability to prepare and oversee detailed plans, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in water resource management and stormwater management.
- Strong technical expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and stormwater system design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver results within established deadlines.
- Knowledge of State and local agency design and compliance standards.

Salary And BenefitsThe City of Johns Creek offers a competitive salary and benefits package. We encourage you to apply if you are passionate about providing excellent support and possess the necessary qualifications. Our package includes a generous 12% contribution of your base pay to the 401a plan and a 1-for-1 match up to 5% in the 457(b) retirement plans, potentially totaling up to 22%.
