SWIM TEAM HEAD COACH - SEASONALPosition Overview
The Head Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing all aspects of the swim team program. This position requires a dynamic leader who demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and motivational skills while fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes of all skill levels. The Head Coach will promote sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and integrity.
PrimaryResponsibilities Leadership & Program Management
- Provide authoritative and inspiring leadership to all swimmers and assistant coaches.
- Develop and implement a structured training program that emphasizes skill development, conditioning, and performance progression for student ages ranging from 5–18-year-olds.
- Establish and enforce team rules, expectations, and conduct standards.
- Manage daily practice sessions, meets, and Saturday clinic programs.
- Maintain open, professional communication with athletes, parents, staff, and administration.
- Collaborate with AAC team and aquatics director to ensure alignment with program goals.
- Foster a culture of respect, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor athletes in goal setting, sportsmanship, and time management.
- Evaluate individual performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Knowledge of stroke technique, training principles, and competitive strategies.
- Ensure all practices and competitions are conducted safely and in compliance with facility and league regulations.
- Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of all team members.
- Ability to motivate and maintain discipline among student-athletes.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Proven experience in competitive swim coaching with a history of athlete development and program success.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong communication and customer‑service skills with a focus on clarity and professionalism.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and seasonal demands.
- Proficiency with administrative and swim team management systems (Swimtopia, Meet Manager, Excel, or similar tools).
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, member‑facing, youth‑centered environment.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds, remain standing for extended periods, and perform rescues if necessary.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (Lifeguard certification preferred).
- ASA Certification (required or obtained within 30 days).
- Safety Training for Swim Coaches (STSC) or equivalent (preferred).
- Competitive seasonal salary with an hourly rate of $20 paid in season and balance paid upon satisfactory completion of swim season.
- Enjoy a holiday rate of 1.5 times normal pay on Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day.
