Surgical Technologist - Cardiothoracic Specialist Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with a focus on cardiothoracic procedures, including CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest surgeries. This is a 13-week contract position.
Responsibilities- Adhere to Infection Control policies and demonstrate expertise in surgical scrub technique.
- Maintain principles of sterile technique throughout the surgical process.
- Assist the surgeon by gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments as needed.
- Maintain an organized operative field, ensuring instruments are clean and properly placed.
- Keep accurate counts of sponges, tapes, needles, and instruments.
- Prepare for cases by assembling supplies and equipment according to preference cards.
- Ensure patient safety by identifying potential hazards in the OR.
- Utilize experienced OR staff as a resource and assist in training new personnel.
- Help in suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the direction of the surgeon.
- Expedite efficient turnover of the OR between cases and take rotating call duty.
- Cardiothoracic experience is a must.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist through NBSTSA (CST) or NCCT (TS-C) is required.
- High School diploma or equivalent is necessary.
Day Shift: Monday to Friday, with options for 5, 8-hour shifts or 4, 10-hour shifts. Call requirements include up to 3 shifts of call per week, ranging from 8 to 16 hours, with one working weekend per 4 weeks.
