Surgical Technologist - Cardiothoracic Specialist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with a focus on cardiothoracic procedures, including CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest surgeries. This is a 13-week contract position.

• Adhere to Infection Control policies and demonstrate expertise in surgical scrub technique.
• Maintain principles of sterile technique throughout the surgical process.
• Assist the surgeon by gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments as needed.
• Maintain an organized operative field, ensuring instruments are clean and properly placed.
• Keep accurate counts of sponges, tapes, needles, and instruments.
• Prepare for cases by assembling supplies and equipment according to preference cards.
• Ensure patient safety by identifying potential hazards in the OR.
• Utilize experienced OR staff as a resource and assist in training new personnel.
• Help in suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the direction of the surgeon.
• Expedite efficient turnover of the OR between cases and take rotating call duty.

• Cardiothoracic experience is a must.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist through NBSTSA (CST) or NCCT (TS-C) is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent is necessary.

Day Shift: Monday to Friday, with options for 5, 8-hour shifts or 4, 10-hour shifts. Call requirements include up to 3 shifts of call per week, ranging from 8 to 16 hours, with one working weekend per 4 weeks.
