The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities while focusing on the prevention of illness and injury. The RN is responsible for alleviating suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses, serving as an advocate for individuals and their families. Adherence to professional development and compliance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, relevant nursing standards, and ethical guidelines is essential in providing patient-centered care in a supportive and healing environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, acting as the primary or accountable nurse as designated by unit assignment.
  • Educate patients and their families on health promotion and disease management utilizing available resources.
  • Administer medications safely according to established hospital policies, utilizing knowledge of pharmacology.
  • Contribute to productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and supply management.
  • Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in the Nursing Shared Governance Model through support of the Unit Council and participation in improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development and complete all mandatory education requirements.
  • Incorporate nursing research and current evidence into practice.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment for new staff members and students.
  • Perform duties related to Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator roles when assigned.
  • May assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
Education

Required: Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Required Certifications & Licensure
  • Current Registered Nurse License in New York State.
  • BLS Certification (AHA or equivalent).
  • Validation of unit-specific requirements as indicated in the Compliance Matrix.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure
  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
Schedule Notes

Full-time position with shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, 36 hours per week, including every other weekend.

Required Experience

Minimum of 3 years of current nursing experience working in an Emergency Department, with previous travel experience. Knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care is essential.
