General
Summary:
Under general direction, the CT Tech performs computed tomography procedures at a technical level requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. The CT Tech provides patient care, performs duties in an organized manner and exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. This position competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
The CT Tech assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.
- Obtains pertinent clinical information from patient, medical chart, and/or physician using accepted standard techniques
- Applies principles of radiation protection and compliance with regulations. Evaluates images to maintain a high degree of radiographic/image quality
- Demonstrates patient confidentiality, sound judgment and positive interpersonal skills
- Remains abreast of new procedures, equipment and imaging methods along with participation in their evaluation and application
- Maintains records for compliance with quality control/assurance activities
- Assumes responsibility for designated area and clinical instruction as appropriate
- Demonstrates quality customer service skills to provide the best imaging procedure possible
- Maintains clinical competency for all exams and equipment
- Performs all procedures as outlined in the protocol manuals
- Regulates the equipment used to expose the x-ray film, develops and organizes films and digital images
- Operates equipment safely and maintains ALARA standards while performing all types of procedures
- Establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments and medical staff
- Reviews the patient script and or chart for verification of procedure order and diagnosis
- Follows all established scan protocols according to physician specification
- Reviews entire exam for completeness of all images
- Graduate of AART Accredited Radiography program.
- At least 1 year experience as a Radiology Technologist required.
- Certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Additional CT certification required
- State License Required
- Must possess strong interpersonal/technical skills
- Demonstrates entry level technical skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Superb time-management, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of computers, keyboarding, and various programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
