Position Summary:

The Construction Manager is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and execution of site-based capital and maintenance construction activities. This leadership role supports the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of industrial turnaround and capital projects. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on leader with a strong track record in executing work safely and efficiently in complex industrial environments.

Must be willing and able to relocate to Kingsport, TN.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all on-site construction activities for capital and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with CAM’s safety standards and fostering a proactive safety culture.
  • Manage and supervise CAM personnel and subcontractors through direct and indirect reports, aligning daily operations with project goals and company values.
  • Collaborate with the Site Manager in the development and management of annual site capital budgets, project forecasts, and labor/resource plans.
  • Drive execution planning, constructability reviews, and job walk coordination during the pre-construction and engineering phases.
  • Oversee field execution, including productivity tracking, project scheduling, resource allocation, and equipment utilization.
  • Perform regular site inspections and job walks to verify progress, safety compliance, and quality control.
  • Support the development of contingency plans and implement recovery strategies when required.
  • Develop and implement construction strategies to enhance execution efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Act as the primary liaison between CAM and the client’s project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate subcontractor scope, performance, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project performance, issues, and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Foster team development, provide mentorship, and uphold CAM’s Core Values of People, Relationships, and Growth.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Construction Manager or similar leadership role in industrial turnaround, capital, or maintenance environments.
  • Proven experience in heavy industrial sectors such as petrochemical, oil & gas, power generation, or pulp & paper.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; PMP certification is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques, project execution strategies, and safety programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary field teams and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with project scheduling and cost control tools is a plus.
  • Competitive hourly rate of $80–$90, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Per diem provided for up to three (3) months to support temporary living expenses prior to permanent relocation.
  • Annual performance-based incentive eligibility.
