Overview
Margate Health & Rehabilitation located in Jefferson, North Carolina, is seeking a Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Preventionist to join a compassionate team of caregivers. The role requires an unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina and involves planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating staff development education and new‑hire orientation in accordance with state, federal, and accreditation regulations. The candidate will oversee the Infection Prevention program and ensure all facility personnel meet competency and educational standards.
Qualifications- Unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina.
- Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE) or Centers for Disease Control (CDC) certification, or the ability to obtain certification within three months of hire.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations governing staff development, infection prevention, and credentialing.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexible hours to cover all shifts.
- Provide orientation for all new employees, including policies, procedures, and philosophy of care.
- Conduct hands‑on clinical orientation and instruction for licensed and unlicensed personnel.
- Coordinate general and specific job training for new employees prior to assuming duties.
- Assess resident needs relative to staff abilities and design training programs based on the needs assessment.
- Ensure clinical competency of nursing staff through skill evaluation.
- Maintain an educational curriculum that complies with state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
- Coordinate basic supervisory skill training for department managers and charge nurses.
- Coordinate continuing education programs.
- Provide resident/family education and teaching resources as required.
- Plan, implement, and coordinate state and federally required in‑service programs to develop and improve the skills of all facility personnel.
- Coordinate immunization program for employees and residents.
- Maintain records as required by facility, state, and federal agencies.
Monitor the professional nurses licensing status and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) listings to ensure they remain current. - Assist in coordinating quality assurance activities for the nursing department.
- Track and report facility infection rates and antibiotic stewardship.
