Senior Analyst – Special Assets
We are seeking a highly analytical and relationship‑oriented Senior Analyst – Special Assets to join our team. The role manages and services delinquent loans across the servicing portfolio, evaluates and underwrites credit requests, and provides tailored financial solutions to meet borrower and investor needs. Serving as a subject‑matter expert in credit analysis, credit counseling, and collection services, you will strengthen the integrity of our credit portfolio.
PrimaryResponsibilities and Duties
- Collection Services
- Lead and coordinate collection efforts, including direct borrower communication and collaboration with investors, legal or recovery teams.
- Manage and service delinquent loans to ensure timely, effective, and compliant resolution.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert in credit risk, offering strategic guidance and contributing to the development of internal policies and procedures.
- Servicing Analysis, Recommendation, and Processing
- Analyze financial statements and supporting documentation for both formal and informal loan servicing requests.
- Identify, request, and assist in gathering necessary financial information to support servicing actions.
- Prepare comprehensive servicing narratives and credit recommendations for internal review.
- Clearly communicate credit decisions, terms, and conditions to borrowers for approved actions.
- Generate action‑specific documentation and implement system updates to align with approved servicing strategies.
- Ensure all documentation and processes comply with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- In‑depth understanding of agricultural lending practices and business finance principles.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a borrower‑focused approach.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in financial analysis tools and loan servicing systems.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive borrower information.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and contribute to team success.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the role.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in agriculture and business finance, with demonstrated knowledge of credit risk and loan servicing.
Base pay range: $75,000.00/yr – $95,000.00/yr
. Compensation may vary based on experience, geography, and performance. Additional performance‑based bonus and equity‑based awards may be available.
The position is based at Farmer Mac’s Washington, D.C. headquarters or the Johnston, Iowa office. The firm embraces a “Presence with Purpose” work environment, offering flexibility while encouraging in‑person collaboration. Core business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Central. Work outside core hours may be required for time‑sensitive projects or off‑site meetings.
