American Leadership Academy - Johnston is accepting applications for a Reading Interventionist for the school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Conducting assessments to identify students’ reading levels and specific areas of difficulty, using both formal and informal assessment tools.
- Developing tailored intervention plans based on assessment data to address individual students' needs. This might involve creating specialized lesson plans, selecting appropriate reading materials, and utilizing evidence-based instructional strategies.
- Delivering one-on-one or small group instruction to students, focusing on targeted reading skills such as phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Regularly evaluating and tracking students' progress to determine the effectiveness of interventions and making necessary adjustments to instruction.
- Working closely with classroom teachers to integrate reading interventions into the broader curriculum and to ensure consistency in instruction and support.
- Communicating with parents and guardians to discuss students' progress, provide strategies for supporting reading at home, and involve them in the intervention process.
- Participating in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in reading instruction and intervention.
- Keeping detailed records of student progress, intervention strategies, and outcomes, and preparing reports for school administration, parents, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Valid NC Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Pass applicable background check
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, or related field
- 3-5 years' experience working with reading intervention
