Position SummaryThe Religious Education Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the religious education program for students in Grades 1–8. This position provides faith formation rooted in Catholic teaching and works closely with families, catechists, parish leadership, and clergy to foster the spiritual growth and development of children.
Develop, coordinate, and oversee the Grades 1–8 religious education curriculum and program and oversee the OCIA program.
Ensure that instruction is faithful to Catholic teachings, Scripture, and the traditions of the Church.
Prepare and maintain age-appropriate lesson plans, materials, and resources.
Coordinate student registration, class assignments, attendance, schedules, and program communications.
Plan and oversee sacramental preparation, including First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, Confirmation and OCIA program. Each requires certificates for every person and a program for the Sacrament.
Work with clergy and parish staff to coordinate Masses, prayer services, retreats, and other faith-formation activities.
Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians regarding parish activities.
Create a welcoming, safe, and faith-filled environment for children and families.
Address student, parent, and catechist concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain accurate student and program records while respecting confidentiality.
Stay current with developments in Catholic religious education, catechetical resources, and best practices.
QualificationsPracticing Catholic with a strong commitment to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.
Experience in religious education, catechetical ministry, teaching, youth ministry, or a related field.
Knowledge of Catholic doctrine, Scripture, sacraments, and the liturgical life of the Church.
Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with children, parents, volunteers, clergy, and parish staff.
Experience recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers is preferred.
Successful completion of all required background checks and Safe Environment requirements.
Creative and enthusiastic about engaging children in their faith.

ScheduleThis is a part-time position. The schedule will include supervising religious education classes, substitute as a teacher when a teacher can’t make it, meetings, sacramental preparation, parish events, and evenings and weekends.
