AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups responsible for administering the residual market. Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Develop rate level indications in accordance with Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) principles.
- Assist in the development of loss reserve studies, in accordance with CAS principles.
- Assist in the preparation of special actuarial research and other reports.
- Conduct a cursory reasonability review of work products and relay any concerns to appropriate staff.
- Participate in the peer review of department work products.
- Develop exhibits to support rate and reserving products.
- Pursuit of CAS Fellowship Credentials through successful completion of applicable exams.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of computer files.
- Assist in the preparation of rate level proposals for governing committee presentation.
- Participate in the development of written documents for distribution to Plan Managers, Insurance Department staff and other internal AIPSO staff.
- Research emerging trends, competitive conditions, and operational changes.
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) majoring in mathematics, statistics, or related field from a four-year college or university. Additional appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Candidates must have passed 1 to 3 actuarial exams to be considered.
Experience1 or more years of related insurance experience preferred. Experience using databases, spreadsheets, statistical software, and computer languages to compile and categorize data.
Skills/Knowledge- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) and Power BI to manage work. Strong spreadsheet and technical skills to use databases and pivot tables.
- Effective problem-solving skills, including ability to analyze issues, find the root cause of the problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives before acting.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals.
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment.
- Mathematical skill and reasoning ability to validate data, ensuring accuracy presented in reports and exhibits.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry and related regulations.
- Demonstrated commitment to on-going insurance education.
Actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; internal equity and other conditions of employment.
