The role:Applications are invited from UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered nurses who hold a postgraduate diploma qualification as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN), School Nurse.
The SCPHN School Nursing qualification is an essential prerequisite for this post. The successful candidate will join the Renfrewshire School Nursing Team as a Band 6 Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN), School Nurse.
You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:- This is a permanent post, working 36 hours per week.
- The post is based within the Renfrewshire School Nursing Team and involves working across schools and the wider community; however, your base will be Johnstone Health Centre
- The working pattern is Monday to Thursday, 08:30–16:30, and Friday, 08:30–16:00.
As fully described within the Job Description, you will work as part of the School Nursing Service to support the continued implementation of the School Nursing Public Health Pathways for Renfrewshire’s school-aged children and young people.
You will use your experience and in-depth knowledge of the health needs of the school-aged population to ensure service provision is effective, efficient, culturally sensitive and evidence-based, with a focus on reducing health inequalities and promoting health and wellbeing for children and young people within school and the community. You will work in partnership with service users, local authorities and other key partners to deliver high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred care in line with GIRFEC and UNCRC principles.
You will also fulfil child protection and safeguarding responsibilities in line with current Child Protection Guidance and local policy.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:- Registered with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Educated to degree level.
- Postgraduate diploma qualification in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN), School Nursing.
- Current experience as an SCPHN-qualified School Nurse.
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of the health needs of the school-aged population.
- Experience of working with children, young people and their families or those who care for them.
- Knowledge of public health approaches and the School Nursing Public Health Pathways.
- Knowledge and understanding of child protection and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Knowledge of GIRFEC and UNCRC principles.
- Ability to provide effective, efficient, culturally sensitive and evidence-based care.
