American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Trauma Stepdown/Progressive Care unit, requiring compact or PA RN licensure and trach/vent, NIH, and swallow screen competency.

• Trauma Stepdown unit (8th Floor) in a Level I Trauma Center hospital
• 22-bed unit caring for adult patients
• Patient ratios of 1:6, up to 1:7 depending on ED holds
• Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, seizures, inability to ambulate, respiratory and urinary issues, with rare cardiac cases
• Uses Mindray vital sign machines, GE EKG, and cardiac monitors
• Charting performed in EPIC
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend commitment of 2 of 4 weekends or 4 of 8 weekend shift days, with straight weekends available if preferred
• Floating required rarely, only if needed
• No on-call requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or PA) required
• Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required, swallow screen certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Trach and vent experience required
• Neuro nursing experience required
• Must demonstrate competency in dysrhythmia recognition
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration

• Provide nursing care on a Trauma Stepdown unit within a Level I Trauma Center
• Will complete a dysrhythmia and math dosage test on the first day of orientation, with a study guide provided in advance
• Weekly orientation held on Mondays
• Must be available for holiday coverage as determined during phone screening
• Scrub color is flexible, but hoodies, t-shirts with wording or images, and facial piercings are not permitted
• Local candidates accepted only if residing 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Candidates cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
• Candidates cannot be employed elsewhere full time
• All candidates must complete required background and clearance screenings prior to start, including PA Child Abuse History Clearance, fingerprinting, and PATCH State Police Clearance
