Travel RN – Trauma Stepdown (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Johnstown, PA | Acute Care – Level I Trauma Stepdown

Contract | 13 Weeks | Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care on a 22-bed Trauma Stepdown/Neuro Med-Surg unit serving an adult patient population
• Monitor and manage patients presenting with CVA, TIA, seizure, inability to ambulate, urinary and respiratory conditions, and occasional cardiac diagnoses
• Perform and document NIH Stroke Scale assessments and Swallow Screens as part of routine neurological care
• Demonstrate competency in dysrhythmia recognition; complete a dysrhythmia and math dosage test on the first day of orientation
• Operate unit equipment including Mindray vital sign machines, GE EKG, and cardiac monitors; document care using EPIC EHR
• Maintain availability for holiday shifts as determined during the phone screening process; float to other units if needed (rare)

• Active RN license valid in Pennsylvania
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with demonstrated neuro med-surg or stepdown competency
• Tracheostomy and ventilator management experience required
• Completion of all required Pennsylvania state clearances prior to start, including PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Department of Human Services Fingerprinting, FBI Department of Aging Fingerprinting, and PA State Police (PATCH) clearance
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel placement

• Swallow Screen certification or prior experience performing swallow screens
• Experience in a Level I Trauma or tertiary care hospital environment
• Familiarity with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation in a stepdown setting
• Availability for straight weekend scheduling if preferred

• Join a nationally recognized tertiary care regional referral center offering exposure to a broad range of complex specialties including Level I Trauma, neurology, and high-acuity stepdown care
• Weekend scheduling flexibility available, with the option for straight weekend assignments for qualifying candidates
