Job SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the building principal, the classroom teacher creates a flexible elementary grade program and a classroom environment that supports learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with students; motivates students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a strong foundation based on each student’s ability; and builds positive relationships with parents and other staff members.

Qualifications- Professional Educator License with Self‑Contained General Education Endorsement or required endorsement.
- Demonstrated leadership, public and community relations, and academic competence.
- Effective behavior management skills.
- Ability to structure a classroom to maximize student learning.
- Effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of curriculum and texts used in elementary education.
- Implement all district policies as they relate to the classroom.
- Guarantee every student receives an equal opportunity for education.
- Teach English Language Arts, social science, mathematics, science, health, art, music, and P.E. as applicable to students, utilizing the Board of School Inspectors course of study and other learning activities.
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each student’s needs.
- Employ diverse instructional strategies to present material to students.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to optimize instructional time.
- Establish and maintain behavioral standards to foster a functional learning classroom.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social progress, maintain records, and prepare reports as required.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with other staff members to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
- Seek assistance from the building principal or support personnel to enhance instruction or resolve specific problems.
- Create an engaging learning environment with displays, bulletin boards, and learning centers.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service professional development.
- Requisition instructional materials and supplies as required.
- Attend all required meetings (faculty, parent‑teacher conferences, etc.).
- Prepare for, conduct, and attend parent‑teacher conferences as required.
- Supervise students during out‑of‑classroom activities during the school day.
- Administer group standardized tests following state and district protocols.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development.
