HIRING RANGE: $50/hour

Position Summary
SILP Tutor-instructors are generally native speakers with experience in language teaching who bring to the classroom a wealth of cultural and linguistic knowledge. Their role is to provide communicative opportunities to the students, and to create a self-guided environment for students to work on their language learning.
Essential Job Duties And Key Responsibilities
- Meet with students in small group sessions as assigned
- Reinforce conversational skills through various language pattern drills
- Drill dialogues and exercises (pre-learned by the students)
- Correct students’ errors
- Strengthen the comprehension ability of students when practicing conversational drills
- Be a useful aid to the student in the study of the language
Minimum Qualifications
- Native fluency in the language to be taught
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching the language to be taught or prior work experience in an educational environment.
- English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
- Demonstrated multicultural competence.
