JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the building principal, the classroom teacher is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth to enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR LICENSE:
* Professional Educator License with and/or Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science, and Science Endorsement or Required Endorsement.
* Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, public and community relations, and academic competence.
* Applicants must possess effective behavior management skills.
* Applicants must be able to structure a classroom to maximize student learning.
* Applicant must be able to establish effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
* Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, public and community relations, and academic competence.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the course outlines, curriculum, and text used.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* To implement all district policies as they relate to the classroom.
* Guarantee every student shall receive an equal opportunity for an education.
* Develops and implements lesson plans for the curriculum program assigned.
* Present subject matter follows the guidelines outlined by the state and district.
* Plans and uses appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect differentiation and accommodations based on the individual needs of the students assigned.
* Uses available data to drive instructional decision-making.
* Works cooperatively with grade-level and content area teams to plan and modify curricula as needed.
* Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to state and district requirements.
* Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, student teachers, and volunteers, if applicable.
* Uses technology actively in the teaching and learning process.
* Assists students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
* Continually assesses student achievement through formal and informal testing.
* Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the district and school.
* Creates an effective environment conducive to learning and appropriate physical, social, and emotional development of students.
* Manages student behavior in the classroom utilizing appropriate classroom management techniques and in accordance with district requirements.
* Maintains professional competence through in-service professional development opportunities.
* Requisition instructional materials and supplies as required.
* Attend all meetings as required, such as faculty, parent-teacher conferences, etc.
* Prepare for, conduct, and attend parent-teacher conferences as required.
* Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
* Administers group standardized tests in accordance with state and district testing protocols.
* Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
* Maintain commitment to ongoing professional development.

* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, inquiries, and/or complaints.

MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
* Ability to perform basic math using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals consistent with the duties of this position.
