Lead - CPT - SJJIL Clinical Lab

Responsibilities

• performs computer data entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical duties
• possesses adequate knowledge of the terminology of tests ordered in the laboratory
• demonstrates proper phlebotomy technique and the use of equipment in collecting specimens from newborns to geriatric patients
• processes microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank specimens
• processes specimens for referral to reference laboratories
• stocks and orders routine supplies
• maintains cleanliness of storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers and work areas
• processes or loads specimens on automated laboratory instrumentation in accordance with established policy and procedures
• performs annual staff performance evaluations
• provides staff training and orientation
• evaluates and ensures staff competency
• ensures staff compliance with all regulatory requirements
• assists in development and maintenance of policies and procedures appropriate to the department
• ensures staff compliance with all laboratory and hospital policies
• provides for a safe work environment in evaluating and implementing PPE and other safety phlebotomy devices
• actively participates in the collection and evaluation of QA data for the development of performance improvement initiatives
• other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director

• Current and valid state certification as a CPT I or II preferred
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current certification according to hospital requirement
• Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience required
• 1 year of previous supervisory/management experience preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $18.90 to $27.37.

The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
