Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, LLC, is one of the largest independent physician-owned orthopedic practices in the United States. With 100 locations and 150 physicians throughout the Chicagoland area, our organization delivers comprehensive orthopedic and rehabilitative care. We seek a dedicated Medical Administrative Assistant to support a board‑certified spinal surgeon who specializes in both orthopedic and neurosurgery.
Responsibilities- Coordinate patient evaluation and treatment activities within the clinic setting.
- Ensure all necessary medical records, x‑rays, reports, and forms are available on the appropriate units before escorting the patient to the exam room.
- Provide patient care as per the physician’s direction/orders.
- Assist the physician with the exam/treatment process and monitor accurate completion of patient charge tickets.
- Reinforce patient/family education and facilitate referrals for outside services (e.g., surgical procedures, home health, therapy services).
- Maintain the adequacy of supplies and cleanliness within exam rooms and the clinic area.
- Previous experience in the spine specialty; bilingual Spanish proficiency strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel between Joliet, New Lenox, and Orland Park office locations.
- Supporting a board‑certified spinal surgeon in a fast‑paced environment.
- CPR certification.
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree (four‑year degree preferred) with 3–4 years progressive experience in a health‑care setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, basic proficiency with computers and medical software, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Epic Systems is preferred.
- Primarily an indoor position with occasional exposure to electrical and chemical hazards.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs and ability to bend/stoop regularly.
- Potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens; may involve repetitive hand movements for data entry.
