Registered Nurse (RN) Pre Op PACU – SCA Health (Optum)

Responsibilities- Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
- Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals as per policy.
- Monitor cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic systems; manage pain and comfort.
- Interpret data from non‑invasive and invasive monitors.
- Develop individualized perianesthesia care plans.
- Apply scoring systems for discharge criteria (e.g., Aldrete, Modified Aldrete, PADSS).
- Prepare for and manage patient recovery from general, monitored, regional, and local anesthesia.
- Prevent injury from positioning, heat sources, and extraneous objects.
- Communicate patient status throughout the perianesthesia continuum.
- Provide acute pain and comfort management.
- Administer medications safely, using the 8‑rights of medication administration.
- Perform interventions to maintain tissue perfusion, fluid, electrolyte, and acid–base balance.
- Maintain patient normothermia and protect against infection.
- Manage comorbid conditions and prescribed fluids.
- Educate patients and support persons on psychosocial response, nutrition, medication, and wound care.
- Engage patients in decision‑making about perioperative care and rehabilitation.
- Protect patient rights, dignity, and privacy.
- Provide age‑specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards.
- Document nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly.
- Collaborate effectively with other disciplines.
- Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
- Participate in performance appraisal and maintain required competencies.
- Act as a patient advocate and maintain confidentiality of health information.
- Comply with facility policies and participate in safety huddles.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- One year of Pre‑Operative or PACU experience.
- Medical/surgical nursing experience.
- Valid state nursing license in good standing.
- BLS or BCLS certification within 90 days of employment or current documentation.
- ACLS certification within 90 days of employment or current documentation.
- When applicable, PALS certification within 90 days of employment or current documentation.
USD $37.00 / hr – USD $45.00 / hr
