Locating Technician
Job DescriptionLocate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities such as telephone, electric, cable television, gas, fiber optic, water, and sewer lines. They observe, locate, mark, and document underground and exposed utility locations to ensure compliance with client and state requirements. The position requires independent work or teamwork, dedicated focus, skill, and machinery/tool proficiency.
Responsibilities- Locate underground facilities using transmitters and surface equipment.
- Work across various terrains, construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in all weather conditions.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to route and perform duties efficiently.
- Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary.
- Maintain timely, professional work while communicating effectively with customers, co‑employees, and third parties.
- Ensure a damage‑free environment by communicating with management, contractors, and utility customers.
- Use necessary technology and tools for accurate locating.
- Work under supervisor guidance in a supervised team environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
- Ability to problem‑solve and read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs and walk/stand for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Pass a background check with no violations within the last five years.
- Pass a DOT drug test.
- Experience preferred:
Utility Locating (1 year) and computer skills (1 year).

- Schedule:
10‑hour shift, Monday‑Friday, on‑call, and weekends as needed. - Location:
