General Description Of PositionThis safety sensitive (SS) position is responsible for receiving emergency and administrative calls from the public and dispatching the appropriate emergency personnel.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Receives, monitors, and dispatches radio communications traffic for Police, EMS, Sheriff, and Fire, including all 911 calls.
- Receives and screens incoming telephone calls from the public and other public safety agencies, categorizes and prioritizes calls during emergency.
- Dispatches the appropriate emergency personnel to incident locations, provides emergency medical instructions to callers prior to the arrival of emergency personnel as appropriate.
- Maintains a continuous log of incoming telephone and radio calls, logs incoming calls for participating agencies.
- Monitors and routes incoming messages from national and state computer networks.
- Checks, confirms, adds, and deletes in-house warrants.
- Participates in training exercises to include in-house training, GPS tracking, AWIN, CAD updates, ACIC recertification, etc.
- Completes work site cleanup.
- Updates contact list.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

Education And ExperienceMental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Communication SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals;
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.
Critical Thinking SkillsAbility to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
