Provides academic assistance an educational development to promote student success for current and prospective students. This includes pre-professional semester schedule planning, scheduling of shadowing experiences, and answering questions about the program during advising or recruiting events.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provides academic advising to students:
- International Program requirements and advise accordingly
- Monitor progress towards graduation dates
- Schedules student advising meetings in a timely fashion
- Facilitates changes of major, advising hold lifts, and advisor identification through internet Native Banner for all majors
- Maintains accurate student records
- Accurately advises students according to degree requirements
- Communicate with the University Advising Center
- Maintains good rapport with all student advisors
- Recruits and promotes programs by participating in:
- Area career and academic fairs
- Ambassador Program
- BCoSM Clubs
- STEM Den - Living Learning Community (LLC)
- Honors College Days
- Assist with New Student Registration Days and Preview Days
- Assist in retention efforts
- Serve on appropriate campus advisory committees
- Corresponds with all student services areas across campus and works fluidly with each department as needed in regards to the needs of student advisors
- Other duties as assigned
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with technology
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines

Work with the Dean of Beck College of Sciences & Mathematics and the Dean of University College, as well as other individuals in the University Advising Center for training in areas of advising and retention efforts. Ability to work with target student populations in areas of academics and career planning. Must be comfortable speaking in small and large group settings
Preferred QualificationsExperience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in an advising capacity
Minimum QualificationsAn earned Bachelor's Degree
