Position: Sound Technician and Information Technology (IT) Specialist

Sound Technician and Information Technology (IT) Specialist

Hours:

Five (5) to Ten (10) hours per week (with flexibility for additional hours during special events)

Job Overview

A skilled and dedicated sound technician and IT specialist who supports the enhancement of worship services and provides technical expertise during special events on campus. Training of volunteers and occasionally overseeing contractors in relevant tasks. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sound engineering, a strong understanding of IT systems, and a commitment to working in a Christ-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists with the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of workstations, laptops, and peripherals.
  • Works closely with the worship team to ensure high-quality audio and visual presentations for weekly worship services.
  • Trains and develops the workshop team to set up, operate, and monitor sound systems, microphones, projectors, and other audiovisual equipment during workshop and event services.
  • Collaborates with others to resolve servers, networks, or specialized systems issues.
  • Troubleshoots and trains others to resolve technical issues promptly to ensure smooth and uninterrupted services.
  • Event Sound & IT Support:
    • Provides sound tech and IT support for various special events on campus, including bible studies, assemblies, performances, and community events.
    • Collaborates with event organizers to ensure proper setup and functionality of sound and IT equipment.
  • IT Assistance:
    • Offers staff basic IT support for sound, video, and presentation-related issues.
    • Develops others to maintain and manage IT equipment such as computers, projectors, and networking devices used in the chapel and other school events.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Develops others to regularly inspect, clean, and maintain sound and audiovisual equipment to ensure optimal working conditions.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in sound engineering, audiovisual technology, and related fields.
  • Familiarity with soundboards, microphones, mixers, and digital audio equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for sound and IT-related issues.
  • Basic knowledge of IT support, including networking, computers, and presentation systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, for special events.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Must be a committed Christian with a passion for contributing to the school's spiritual life and supporting its mission.
Specific Skills/Strengths
  • Understanding of networking and infrastructure for audio, video, and lighting.
  • Strong working knowledge of setup, installation, and management of Windows/MacOS operating systems and the hardware associated.
Experience Desired
  • Five plus years of technical experience working in a broadcast and or live AVL environment or another relevant field.
  • Five plus years of integration.
  • Ability to create and utilize structures made from various materials (e.g., theatrical assets).
  • Familiarity with network systems, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Previous knowledge or experience with OBS Studio desired but not required.
  • Vocational or college degree in a technical field desired, but not required, with extensive experience.
  • CTS or other AV Industry certifications desired but not required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • There are no employee supervisory responsibilities.
