This safety‑sensitive position is responsible for the care and maintenance of the kennel area.

• Cleans and disinfects kennels (daily)
• Feeds and waters animals (daily)
• Provides initial intake services on animals dip/bath (daily)
• Prepares animals for adoption (daily)
• Cleans officer's trucks (daily)
• Cleans equipment such as cages, traps, and travel kennels (daily)
• Performs kennel maintenance and small repairs (daily)
• Assists Animal Control Officers with the holding of animals for euthanasia (as needed)
• Provides maintenance on grounds (weekly)
• Operates a city vehicle for essential functions (as needed)
• Performs any other related duties as required or assigned

Education and Experience: Equivalent to four years of high school or GED with emphasis on office or shop skills, plus 7‑11 months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.

Communication

Skills:

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.

Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; and prepare and interpret bar graphs.

Critical Thinking

Skills:

Ability to use common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and solve routine problems involving several known variables.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Veterinary Technician License, State of AR Euthanasia Certification, Nutritional Specialist, Animal 1st Responder.
