POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, reviews all Student Disciplinary Tribunal Hearing requests for appropriateness and processes all requests from all Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) in accordance with O.C.G.A. 20- (Public School Disciplinary Tribunal Act) and Clayton County Public Schools Policies and Procedures. Processes and documents all post-tribunal hearing decisions and assignments to the Clayton Public Schools’ Alternative School. Assists with updating the Student Code of Conduct.

Creates and updates the Clayton County Public Schools’ Discipline Resolution Codes.

Trains school staff on entering discipline incidents in Infinite Campus, and works with Administrators to identify appropriate discipline codes and proper documentation of discipline incidents in Infinite Campus. Monitors discipline data and assists in addressing discipline issues from Administrators.
This position reports to the Director of Student Discipline, Prevention and Intervention or designee.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reviews all Student Disciplinary Tribunal Hearing requests for appropriateness, and processes all requests from all Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) in accordance with O.C.G.A. 20- (Public School Disciplinary Tribunal Act), and Clayton County Public Schools Policies, Protocols and Procedures.

In collaboration with the Supervisor, determines Tribunal Hearing dates and ensures that hearings are scheduled within the State mandated timeframe.

Assists in maintaining 100% compliance with Local, State and Federal regulations on Student Disciplinary Tribunal hearings.

Maintains proper records, documents all post-tribunal hearing decisions, processes all Tribunal Appeals and notifies all parties as required by O.C.G.A. 20-, and the Department of Student Discipline, Prevention and Intervention’s processes and procedures. Assists with training on the Student Code of Conduct. Tracks and updates the Discipline Codes, State Codes, and Resolution Codes.

Inline with the District’s online registration process and the Department of Student Discipline, Prevention and Intervention’s processes and procedures, processes exits from the Alternative School, and assignments to the Alternative School for students transitioning from the Department of Juvenile Justice including students under a discipline order of another school district, students moving-in to CCPS, and CCPS students transferring to the Alternative School due to Tribunal Hearing decisions.

Works with Administrators to identify appropriate Student Code of Conduct Codesfor potential tribunal hearings and matching discipline codes when Manifestation Determination Review (MDR) is warranted. Trains school staff on entering discipline incidents in Infinite Campus, and assists Administrators with identifying appropriate discipline codes and ensuring proper documentation of discipline incidents in Infinite Campus.

Monitors and cleanses discipline data including Unsafe School Choice Option (USCO) and Student Record/State Discipline Errors. Processes all Behavior Delete requests from all CCPS schools and assists Administrators, school staff, and the Technology Department with correcting discipline errors in Infinite Campus.

Creates Tribunal Panel Member Assignment calendars, keep the calendars and panel members updated. Assists with Tribunal Panel Member training and track attendance for State Mandated Tribunal and Tribunal Panel trainings.

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

KEY

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelors’ degree in Education, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or related field is preferred.

Minimum five (5) years experience in the area of Student Discipline, Student Disciplinary Tribunals, the Court system or adjudicatory process required.

Work impacts the entire Student Disciplinary Process and Procedures, Discipline data and liability on the part of the District.

Moderate level of judgment is required. The supervisor is available to review established broad objectives and approve executive-level decisions.

Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.

Excellent interpersonal and networking skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.

Requires excellent presentation, written, and verbal skills.

Applies technology concepts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of data collection; must be proficient with computer.

Makes decisions and recommendations which routinely affect the activities of others.

Normal Office Setting.

May require travel for off-site locations and school site visits.

On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently siting, standing, or stooping.

Light lifting or carrying 20 lbs. or less.
