The Early Childhood Teacher Assistant oversees and instructs students in a classroom setting. This position assists the lead teacher by utilizes innovative and effective teaching methods to enhance the knowledge and skills of students in the class. The Teacher Assistant collaborates with the lead teacher in planning, organizing, and implementing the mission of MSSU Lion Cub Academy aligned with the goals and objectives set for by the administration of MSSU LCA.
Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists the lead teacher in developing lesson plans for classroom teaching activities.
Assists the lead teacher in implementing Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline within their classroom.
Conducts daily attendance checks.
Assists the lead teacher in maintaining a developmental record for children assigned to their classroom.
Collaboratively work with student worker candidates within their classroom.
Educates the children enrolled in the center in the areas of cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.
Twice annually the lead teacher and assistant teacher will create and distribute and/or make available to the center director the educational progress reports on the children in their classroom for distribution to center parents. Parent Teacher Conference will be conducted twice a year.
Attend staff meetings and workshops to meet 12 hour minimum required by licensing guidelines.
Implements the food program; by assisting with records keeping, preparation and/or serving of meals and snacks.
Communicates effectively with all staff.
Completes paperwork assigned by lead teacher and/or director.
Assumes the lead teacher’s duties whenever the teacher is out of the classroom.
Performs other related duties as required.
Complies with Missouri Child Care Licensing requirements and NAEYC Accreditation standards.
Assists the director in any project that is assigned.
Education, Experience, and LicensesChild Development Associate Credential or equivalent is needed.
Minimum one year experience required for this position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Requires the ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
