Direct Support Professional - CC | Joplin
Positions starting at $21.00 per hour. Are you interested in joining a rewarding non‑profit career that makes a difference? The Arc invites you to join our team of value‑driven, independent professionals to support individuals with disabilities in enhancing their quality of life.
DescriptionThe Direct Support Professional – Community Connections is focused on meeting client needs and promoting community integration.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities- Encourage and mentor clients toward independence in the community.
- Educate clients on personal hygiene, cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, and other daily living skills.
- Explore community businesses and social activities, supporting employment, household and personal goals.
- Collaborate with the team to plan and advocate for clients.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid chauffeur’s license with a good driving record (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Dependable automobile and current liability or higher auto insurance.
- Pass CPR and First Aid certification.
- Pass a 16‑hour Medication Administration course, 10‑hour MANDT System workshop, OSHA health and safety course, Abuse & Neglect course, Electronic Documentation course (or meet department requirements).
- Must be passionate about working with individuals with disabilities and committed to the Arc mission.
- Ability to work independently in a one‑on‑six community setting, exercise good judgment, maintain confidentiality, and perform physical tasks up to 50 lbs.

- Paid initial and ongoing training certifications (CPR/First Aid, MANDT, Level One Med Aide, etc.).
- Mileage reimbursement for client activities.
- Potential for annual wage increases.
- Retirement plan – 4% match after one year.
