About the Position

Rooted Church is seeking a Pastoral Preaching Resident to join our ministry team. This residency is designed for a Bible college student who desires to grow in preaching and pastoral ministry experience while serving a local church in our community that we support.

• Preach once a month at one of our partner churches in Joplin that needs assistance with pulpit supply.
• Participate in monthly preaching reviews with Rooted Church staff, receiving constructive feedback and guidance for growth in biblical communication and sermon development.
• Work on your monthly sermon a little each week alongside the Rooted Pastoral team.
• Assist with pastoral ministry alongside the Rooted Church staff, including opportunities to observe and participate in pastoral care, ministry planning, and Sunday gatherings.
• Engage in personal and spiritual development, growing in character, competency, and calling as a future pastor or church leader.

• Currently enrolled in a Bible college or ministry training program.
• A growing follower of Jesus with a clear call to ministry.
• Teachable spirit and willingness to receive feedback.
• Reliable, humble, and committed to serving both churches well.

This is an unpaid residency, but a small stipend will be provided on the weeks you preach. Additionally, part-time employment at the church could be made available to the right candidate within one of our other church programs.

This residency exists to help develop the next generation of faithful pastors and preachers—rooted in Scripture, shaped by community, and sent to serve the Church.
