Overview

Barton Community College Grandview Plaza Campus seeks an Adjunct Faculty member (temporary, part-time instructors) qualified to instruct Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) courses.

• Instruct OSH courses for adults, using effective teaching methods.
• Deliver training to adults in both face-to-face and online formats.

• An undergraduate degree in OSH (or closely related field).
• 3–5 years of OSH-related employment.
• Completion of OSHA OTIEC courses within the last seven years.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver training and education to adults (both face to face and online).

• Currently working in the OSH field or have related working experience.
• Professional certifications including current OSHA Outreach Trainer for the General or Construction Industry.

Barton Community College opened in 1969. Barton is a comprehensive community college; the main campus sits on 160 acres atop a hill about two miles northeast of Great Bend, Kansas. Each year thousands of students enroll in classes offered by Barton Community College. Barton offers traditional general education courses, fine and performing arts opportunities, a wide range of career and technical training offerings, GED courses, transfer options, online classes, and an athletic program with 60 national championships.

On-campus housing is available to over 400 students. Barton is a leader in providing training to the military with service locations at Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth, and has been designated as a Military Friendly School. Barton’s Fort Riley campus (40th year in 2024) emphasizes access to education for active military and their families. The Fort Leavenworth campus provides many of the same services and has been operational since 2012.

Barton also operates Camp Aldrich, an event center with lodging facilities on 290 acres of rolling hills and grassland.
