Job Overview
Accountant 4 – Rural Health Transformation Program. Full‑time, Juneau, Alaska. Open to Alaska residents only. Exempt from hiring freeze. Position linked to the new and innovative Rural Health Transformation Fund. Department of Health, Division of Assistant Commissioner’s Office, Departmental Support Services/Administrative Support Services. Deadline 12/30/2025.
Key responsibilities and qualifications detailed below.
- Provide high‑level, specialized accounting, financial management, and fund accounting services in support of the Rural Health Transformation Fund.
- Oversee and certify financial transactions related to revenues and expenditures.
- Oversee federal accounting, recording, and reporting functions, including the submission of federally mandated reports.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal accounting and reporting requirements.
- Provide complex financial analysis, fund accounting, compliance, and internal control for a significant federal grant program.
- Ensure integrity of financial reporting.
- Work closely with project coordinators, the Administrative Operations Manager, and federal partners to administer program funds and adjust budgets as program needs evolve.
- Analysis and Assessment:
Uses information technology to access, collect, analyze, maintain, and disseminate data and information. - Financial Analysis:
Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling to interpret quantitative and qualitative data. - Principles of Accounting:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices, including the full accounting cycle. - Reasoning:
Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts and data; draws accurate conclusions. - Technical Competence:
Applies knowledge acquired through formal training or extensive on‑the‑job experience to perform technical tasks and advise others. - At least three (3) years of progressive accounting experience, including federal grant accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; CPA or equivalent preferred.
