The Department of Family and Community Services, Division of Department Support Services, is recruiting for full-time Accounting Technician 3 in Juneau, Alaska.
This position is open to Alaska Residents Only.
What You Will Be DoingThis position is in Juneau, Alaska and provides financial support to the department such as researching, reviewing and processing Reimbursable Service Agreement (RSA) and accounts payable financial documents. You will provide technical support to our Division by processing encumbrance requests, Department cash receipts deposits, and journal entries. You will perform tasks independently, prioritize work assignments, and will be the main contact for RSA.

Who We Are Looking ForWe are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position-specific competencies:
- Accounting Operations:
Knowledge of general ledger accounting and reconciliation techniques including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursement accountability. - Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving:
Uses a logical, systematic approach to address problems or opportunities using knowledge and resources. - Attention to Detail:
Thorough and detail‑oriented. - Oral and Written Communication:
Communicates information effectively to audiences, including technical or sensitive material; provides clear presentations; listens and responds appropriately. - Self-Management:
Sets realistic goals; works with minimal supervision; demonstrates initiative and reliability.
Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.
Substitutions:
- Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college may substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.
- Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level if it includes accounting coursework (see details in original posting).
- An associate’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration may substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes applicable accounting coursework.
