Dental Hygienist - Intermittent

Pay Range:

$48.22 - $62.80

Position Overview: Provide age-specific preventive and curative periodontal and dental care for SEARHC patients by performing hygiene services on infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Educate patients on oral disease prevention, emphasizing oral hygiene, home care, and nutrition.
• Examine oral tissues, perform periodontal therapy, coronal polishing, apply fluoride, measure periodontal pockets, take x-rays, and record vital signs.
• Manage patient scheduling.
• Coordinate and conduct dental prevention activities such as health fairs, sealant clinics, and Head Start clinics.
• Maintain hygienist supplies and sterilize instruments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not require supervisory duties.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Pass the National Board Examination for Dental Hygienists.
• Active Dental Hygiene License in Alaska or another U.S. State;
  Alaska license preferred.
• High school diploma or GED.

Knowledge:

• Proper infection control techniques.
• Principles of dental and periodontal diseases and treatments.
• Proper use of dental instruments.

Skills:

• Clinical hygiene skills.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Accurate clinical judgment.

Abilities:

• Sit for extended periods during patient care.
• Good manual dexterity.

Certifications

Required:

BLS (American Heart Association), Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC), Dental Hygienist license (Alaska State Board of Dental Examiners), High-Risk Competency (SEARHC).
