Based ecumbe Hospital in Sitka and/or Ethel Lund Medical Center in Juneau, the Physician/Radiologist interprets radiology imaging across SEARHC locations. Responsibilities include interpreting diagnostic images from modalities such as radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, Dexa, ultrasound, MRI, and CT, exercising independent judgment, and providing timely, clearly written reports using voice recognition systems. The radiologist collaborates with providers to enhance patient care, interprets films outside regular hours when contacted, and makes final interpretations y also work with the Department of Radiology to develop new standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Radiography: Interprets examinations including spine, extremities, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis; performs fluoroscopy and interventional procedures; collaborates on standards.
  • Mammography Services: Interprets mammograms, including mobile units; performs needle localizations and procedures.
  • Ultrasound Services: Interprets OB/GYN, abdominal, pelvic, small parts, and vascular ultrasounds; performs procedures as needed.
  • Computed Tomography (CT): Supervises and interprets CT scans; manages contrast dosing.
  • Pre-approves all CT and MRI orders across SEARHC, including remote villages.
  • Participates in medical staff meetings, collaborates on service plans, and supports quality assurance.
  • Provides educational programs and consults with healthcare providers.
  • Performs duties responsibly and respectfully to promote effective relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Imaging Services.

Qualifications:

  • Four years of clinical experience post-residency.
  • Training in diagnostic radiology, CT, MRI, mammography, ultrasound (during residency or equivalent).
  • MD or DO degree.
  • Completion of AMA-approved Radiology Residency and Board Certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Alaska medical license.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of radiology modalities and digital imaging systems.
  • Accurate interpretation skills and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication with staff and providers, collaborative work ethic.
