The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) Department of Business and Public Administration invites applications for a full-time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Public Administration. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the academic mission of a dynamic university located in Southeast Alaska.

The UAS is seeking a tenure‑track faculty member for Fall 2026 who will teach primarily online courses in our Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration programs. We seek a candidate with demonstrated potential for creative and effective teaching in a virtual environment and the ability to support and enhance campus commitments to cultural safety, belonging, and respect for people from a variety of backgrounds.

The new colleague is expected to engage with students and actively participate in departmental activities that support both the graduate and undergraduate programs, including assurance of learning, curriculum discussions, faculty meetings, and events.

The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is located in the traditional territory of the Lingit, Haida, and Tsimshian peoples. On our three campuses, students have opportunities for field study, research, creative production, and internships in the Tongass National Forest, marine and freshwater environments, local businesses, and within tribal, federal, and state governmental entities. • Ph.D. or terminal degree in Public Administration or a closely related field such as public affairs, political science, public policy, public management, or economics. ABD candidates may apply, but the PhD must be in hand by the first day of the faculty contract in Fall 2027.
• Ability to teach or experience in teaching graduate‑level courses in Public Administration and related fields.
• Ability to support and enhance campus commitments to equity and cultural safety, nurturing environments that promote belonging for people from all cultures and identities, including in a distance education environment.

• University, college, or department service and leadership in Public Administration or equivalent professional leadership in a closely related field.
• University‑level teaching experience in the online or hybrid environment.
• A demonstrated history of professional and/or community service.
• Significant practitioner experience.
• Experience or interest in directing or coordinating a public administration program.

This is a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty appointment located on the UAS campus in Juneau, with flexible hybrid or remote arrangements within Alaska as allowed by university regulations. The appointment carries a 4/4 teaching load and is evaluated on teaching and service, not on research, scholarship, or creative activity.
