Special Education Teacher - Tukurngailnguq School
Bering Strait School District is accepting applications for a Special Education teacher at Tukurngailnguq School in the community of Stebbins for the 2025-26 school year. We are beginning to do interviews by video conference and other means.

We are a standards-based and data-driven district, and require progressive, flexible teachers who are supportive of a Response to Intervention (RTI) approach to instruction, and willing to implement related strategies.

Being comfortable using technology to track student progress, and to prepare documentation would be a significant advantage. BSSD utilizes a comprehensive web database for tracking student progress called Power School, technology is used for most day-to-day tasks. All classrooms are wirelessly connected to the Internet.

Job Description

TITLE: Special Education Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors or Masters degree in special education or related field.

Current teaching certificate with endorsement in Special Education

Experience assessing academic progress.

Experience in writing and implementing individual educational plans.

Experience working with students who have both limited and accelerated academic achievement and behavioral concerns.

To provide an environment where positive, successful learning can take place

Essential Functions

Processes teacher referrals through help with identification and testing.

Writes individual education plans to meet student needs.

Maintains accurate and complete records.

Participates as a team member in child study team meetings.

Helps teachers with implementation of individual educational plans.

Act as resource teacher to village school staff.

REPORTS TO: Principal

SALARY: Placement on BSSD Teacher Pay Scale. (See the BSSD Negotiated Agreement for more details.)

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: 192 Days

LOCATION: Stebbins
