RESPONSIBILITIESThe teacher must maintain class records of student achievement and attendance.
The teacher must complete all reports/reporting required by the district and building administrator(s).
The teacher must fulfill instructional responsibilities including:
- Adequate classroom preparation demonstrated in detailed lesson plans
- Effective classroom management
- A variety of effective instructional and evaluative techniques
- Identification of individual differences
- Understand developmental levels and implement developmentally appropriate practices
The teacher must maintain a high level of professional conduct when dealing with staff, students, and parents in accordance with the Code of Ethics stated in the Professional Teaching Practices Commission Handbook.
The teacher must comply with all School Board Policies specified in School District Personnel Policies – plus all written directives of the superintendent and other supervisors.
The teacher must comply with provisions of other job descriptions related to the teacher's specific assignment.
The teacher is expected to devote time and responsibility to support extracurricular activities of the school program.
The teacher must perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the administration may assign.
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of Bachelor's Degree
Type A Alaska Teaching Certificate with Elementary Education endorsement
Meets the requirements for positions partially- or fully-funded by Title grants
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSEndorsements in additional content areas
Experience teaching lower elementary grades
Effective classroom management skills
Demonstrated ability to integrate technology in the classroom
EMPLOYMENT TERMSCertified Position; 190-day contract; minimum 7.5 hour teaching day exclusive of 30-minute duty-free lunch.
Salary and benefits determined via the collective bargaining agreement between the Hydaburg City School District and the Hydaburg Education Association.
