Spanish Language Adjunct Instructor – Spring 2026
The University of Alaska Southeast School of Arts & Sciences is accepting applications for an adjunct faculty member to instruct an undergraduate Spanish language course. This is a great opportunity for individuals seeking professional teaching experience who have a passion for educating others. Adjunct positions are filled on a temporary basis. Join us and help turn students’ Spanish language aspirations into reality!
The course is scheduled for the second semester and is expected to run from January to May 2026. The course will meet twice a week in the evenings from 5:30–7:30 pm. While students will attend in person and virtually, our preference is that instruction will occur on the UAS Juneau campus.
DesiredSkills and Abilities
- Knowledge of accepted instruction methods.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish both orally and in writing.
- Public speaking skills.
- Providing high-quality instruction through suitable academic preparation.
- Familiarity with computers and other technologies for instruction, such as Blackboard.
Previous online teaching experience and/or experience teaching Spanish as a second language is preferred.
Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree in Spanish (M.A. in Spanish or Spanish linguistics); OR 18 graduate credits in Spanish; OR a graduate-level degree from a university where Spanish was the language of instruction.
Position DetailsThis position is located on the University of Alaska Southeast campus in Juneau. This is a part-time, adjunct faculty position represented by United Academic – Adjuncts, AAUP‑AFT/AFL‑CIO. Minimum salaries are set by the United Academic - Adjunct, AAUP‑AT/AFL‑CIO collective bargaining agreement. Salaries may vary based upon education and experience. This is an at-will, union‑represented adjunct position, and may be canceled based upon the needs of the university.
