The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Division of Southcoast Region Construction Section is recruiting for an Engineering Associate in Juneau.
What you will be doingThis position serves as a Southcoast Region Construction Division Project Engineer. As the Department’s designated representative for construction contract administration, the incumbent will be responsible for the inspection, acceptance and payment of work performed on one or more ongoing construction projects of average to above average complexity, projects with high potential for public impacts, and projects with sensitive stakeholder commitments.

The working environment you can expectThis position is located in Juneau. It reports to the DOT&PF Southcoast Region 7-mile office located in Juneau, Alaska. Southeast Alaska features unique habitats, temperate rainforests, steep mountains, glaciers, and marine waters with broad recreational opportunities. The region’s coastal environment affects construction considerations for projects ranging from small local street/highway work to marine terminals and airport improvements. The position requires the ability to read and interpret design plans and specifications and to develop well thought out engineering solutions and documentation during construction of regional projects.
