What You Will Be Doing- Manage DFCS capital development and deferred maintenance projects, including preparing specifications, design documents, and construction contracts.
- Develop project budgets, act as the DFCS representative once projects are funded, and inspect work for compliance.
- Coordinate with project contractors, DOT/PF engineers, design and engineering consultants, and stakeholders across divisions.
- Conduct all activities in accordance with applicable laws, statutes, regulations, administrative manuals, policies, and procurement procedures.
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving – uses a logical, systematic approach to address problems.
- Stakeholder Management – identifies, engages, and influences relationships with individuals and groups connected to the project.
- Oral and Written Communication – effectively communicates information to diverse audiences, listening and responding to non‑verbal cues.
- Additional competencies include Building and Construction, Facilities, Project Management, and Safety Engineering.
- Education or training in engineering, architecture, business administration, or a closely related field, and/or progressively responsible experience in facilities construction, operation, maintenance, or repair.
- Equivalent experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 or similar role with the State of Alaska or another employer.
- Proficiency in the competencies listed above, demonstrated through work history, volunteer experience, training, education, licenses, and certifications.

The Anchorage office is located in the Frontier Building, midtown Anchorage, with ample parking and nearby restaurants. The typical workday includes monitoring construction contracts, reviewing bid proposals, developing solicitations, and traveling to local facilities as needed.
