WILDLAND FIRE & RESOURCE TECH 2 / SENIOR FIREFIGHTER / GANNETT GLACIER CREW (PCN 10-N17051-62)
State of Alaska – Palmer, Alaska
Responsibilities- Dig hand lines, operate power saws and water pumps
- Maintain fire gear readiness and assist in hazard fuel mitigation projects
- Pile limbs and slash, assist in burn operations, climb and prune trees
- Operate chainsaws under direct supervision of higher‑level positions
- Perform personal gear and equipment maintenance (nozzles, hose, chainsaws, tools)
- Six months Wildland Fire and Resource Technician 1 experience or equivalent
- National Incident Qualification System Red Card (no substitution)
- Alaska driver’s license (conditional for non‑license applicants)
- Pass the Work Capacity Test at the "Arduous" level (3‑mile hike, 45‑lb pack, 45 minutes)
- Ability to travel across Alaska and the Lower 48 States for assignments up to 30 days
- Health, vision and dental insurance

- Based out of Palmer, Alaska – dispatched nationally and to Canada
- Remote environments with no internet or cell service; 14‑21 days hiking to work
- Commitment to incidents for 100+ days a year; sleeping in a tent most nights
- Single resource or part of a team; 100‑plus day support each season
