WILDLAND FIRE & RESOURCE TECH 2 / SENIOR FIREFIGHTER / GANNETT GLACIER CREW (PCN 10-N17051-62)

State of Alaska – Palmer, Alaska

Responsibilities
  • Dig hand lines, operate power saws and water pumps
  • Maintain fire gear readiness and assist in hazard fuel mitigation projects
  • Pile limbs and slash, assist in burn operations, climb and prune trees
  • Operate chainsaws under direct supervision of higher‑level positions
  • Perform personal gear and equipment maintenance (nozzles, hose, chainsaws, tools)
Qualifications
  • Six months Wildland Fire and Resource Technician 1 experience or equivalent
  • National Incident Qualification System Red Card (no substitution)
  • Alaska driver’s license (conditional for non‑license applicants)
  • Pass the Work Capacity Test at the "Arduous" level (3‑mile hike, 45‑lb pack, 45 minutes)
  • Ability to travel across Alaska and the Lower 48 States for assignments up to 30 days

  • Single resource or part of a team; 100‑plus day support each season
