What You Will Be DoingHuman Resources Technicians analyze, calculate, audit and certify timesheets and process personnel actions on time and without error. This includes assuring all payroll and leave transactions are in accordance with applicable Personnel Rules, Bargaining Unit provisions, State Statutes, and Standard Operating Procedures for the State of Alaska.

You will enjoy a workplace with a view of Juneau’s beautiful downtown scenery. Located on the 8th floor of the State Office Building, you are within walking distance of coffee shops, restaurant, nature trails and the waterfront.
Payroll requires attention to detail and a key part of the workday involves data entry, verifying information, and reconciling figures. The work environment is digitally focused and cyclical leading up to paydays every two weeks.

Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.
One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals one year) in any field.
SpecialNote:
High school graduation "equivalent" means one of the following:
1) a G.E.D (i.e. passing the General Educational Development test);
2) completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week);
3) six months of work experience performing duties related to office or clerical support;
4) twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support;
5) highest grade of school completed plus any kind of work experience that totals 12 years or more; or
6) acceptance for admission in full standing by an accredited college or university.
"Human resource" work includes experience in recruitment and selection, classification, employee training, employer provided benefits programs, employment law compliance, personnel, payroll, or employee or labor relations.
