This position is currently located in Anchorage. The position may be in Multiple Locations, depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate.

We’re looking for a strategic, tech‑savvy leader to serve as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer, supporting cybersecurity operations, guiding policy, and stepping in as acting Chief Information Security Officer when needed. The DSO is a small, skilled team tasked with overseeing security for one of the state’s largest departments. By necessity, the team collaborates extensively with other IT disciplines and business operations. The Working Environment You Can Expect

Applicants based near a local DOH office will follow a hybrid in‑office schedule; however, fully remote (100% telework) positions may be considered if there is no local DOH office and sufficient bandwidth is available to perform all duties. Daily responsibilities include participating in leadership meetings, providing updates on security and organizational priorities, and supervising a team to address security risks and incidents.

  • Information Systems Security Certification
    :
    Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for evaluating information systems security features against a set of specified security requirements.
  • Information Systems/Network Security
    :
    Knowledge of methods, tools, and procedures, including development of information security plans, to prevent information systems vulnerabilities, and provide or restore security of information systems and network services.
  • Accountability
    :
    Holds self and others accountable for measurable high‑quality, timely, and cost‑effective results. Determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Complies with established control systems and rules.
Special Notice
  • This position will require a fingerprint‑based background check to be performed by the Department of Public Safety, as well as the ability to (occasionally) visit DOH locations around the state, as required.
