Job Title and SummaryMicrocomputer/Network Specialist 2 – The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Program Management and Administration seeks a full‑time IT professional to keep Alaska moving.
Salary and Location- Anchorage: $3,028.50 – semi‑monthly
- Juneau: $3,180.00 – semi‑monthly
DOT&PF is recruiting for a long‑term, nonpermanent position that accrues personal leave, 11 paid holidays, and health‑insurance and other benefits. The incumbent will provide technology support services primarily for the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) and collaborate with other IT professionals to deliver customer service and technical support across the AMHS vessel fleet and terminals.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, analyze, track, and resolve hardware and software problems in a ticketing system to ensure service delivery fulfillment.
- Manage Windows desktop platforms, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365, Endpoint Management Software & Solutions, Microsoft Teams, VoIP phones, network & server equipment, microcomputer PCs, laptops & tablets, printers/MFPs, cabling, imaging, and configuration & deployment of workstations and mobile devices.
- Manage user and computer objects in Active Directory and Group Policy; assist in maintaining, installing, and monitoring servers, routers, switches, and other server‑room equipment.
- Collaborate with other IT positions to assist with intrusion remediation and follow security best practices.
- Configuration Management – Knowledge of principles and methods for planning or managing implementation, update, or integration of information system components.
- Systems Integration – Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information system components.
- Technical Documentation – Knowledge of procedures for developing technical and operational support documentation.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) required; background check will be performed after conditional job offer.
