ATTENTION ALL ALASKA RESIDENTS!

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Program Management and Administration is looking for a long-term nonpermanent Microcomputer/Network Technician 1 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing:

As a Desktop Support Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting computer systems within our department. Working closely with lead technicians and specialists, you will handle tasks such as computer configuration, installation, and maintenance. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing entry‑level desktop support services to departmental computers and users.
  • Learning to use and manage the Incident Tracking System.
  • Developing excellent customer service skills.
  • Acquiring basic computer and network troubleshooting abilities.
  • Resolving simple problems via phone, email, and direct messaging.
  • Escalating complex issues to higher‑level technicians and supervisors.

Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Study the fundamentals of microcomputer and basic network design, installation, maintenance, and administration.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in micro computing and networking by reading current computer journals.
  • Use technical and procedural manuals to address data processing problems.
  • Conduct simple research to find solutions.
  • Participate in online training for entry‑level Microsoft microcomputer and network certifications.

This position is located at 820 E 15th Avenue in Anchorage, Alaska. With supervisor approval, part‑time telework may be an option for this position.
