Department of Family and Community Services – Division of Departmental Support Services is recruiting for full‑time Analyst/Programmer 2/3/4 positions in Juneau, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing

This is an in‑office position located in downtown Juneau. The incumbent will support and administer enterprise services and components, using and leveraging a combination of application service systems, including but not limited to relational database systems, version control, operating systems, system integration, and other enterprise‑class technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Support, configure, maintain, custom and/or off‑the‑shelf enterprise components and services associated with assigned system(s).
  • Administer enterprise services for the department including Azure Services, Microsoft SQL Services, Power BI, Microsoft Reporting Services, Azure Dev Ops, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft Active Directory/Entra , and other assignments.
  • Design and maintain software applications. Identify database, software, and/or application requirements, and help identify technology to meet business use cases.

Qualifications
  • Database Administration:
    Knowledge of principles, methods, and tools for automating, developing, implementing, or administering database systems.
  • Information Technology Architecture:
    Knowledge of architectural methodologies used in the design and development of information systems, including the physical structure of a system’s internal operations and interactions with other systems.
  • Planning and Evaluating:
    Organizes work, sets priorities, determines resource requirements; defines short‑ or long‑term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
  • Systems Integration:
    Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information system components.
Job Levels and Experience Analyst/Programmer 2
  • One year of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language.
  • At least one year of experience in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer system user support specialty.
  • Substitution: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with 18 semester/24 quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for all required experience; an associate’s degree may substitute for nine months of experience.
  • Applicants qualifying under substitution must complete required coursework within three (3) months of hire and provide proof before final appointment.
  • Background investigation, including fingerprinting, may be required.
Analyst/Programmer 3
  • Two years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language.
  • One year in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer, or computer information management support specialty.
  • Substitution: A bachelor’s degree in CS or CIS may substitute for one year of required experience; an associate’s degree may substitute for nine months.
