Paralegal Specialist 1 (PCN 03-1293)
Position Overview:
Supervise a team of paralegals in the Office of Special Prosecutions, support community members and victims impacted by crime, and assist prosecutors in navigating cases through the criminal justice system. Responsibilities include providing case updates, informing clients of available resources, building relationships with law enforcement, courts, and victim advocates, and preparing for hearings and trials.

- You can expect a 40‑hour work week; 12 paid holidays; personal leave accrual starting at 6 hours per pay period (about 21 days annually) and increasing with years of service. The general office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM but there is flexibility in establishing your regular hours around core business hours.
In our office, you will be a team leader and work in one or more areas of law while remotely supervising paralegals in the Office of Special Prosecution. The office environment is friendly, fast‑paced, and never boring. The work will require minimal travel.
This position is located at 310 K Street, Ste 701, Anchorage, AK 99501. The hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. You will supervise 5 paralegals, work with 19 attorneys, and 6 support staff located in the Office of Special Prosecutions.

PI01C1 – Paralegal Specialist
1. Minimum required competencies include:
- Law:
Knowledge of state and federal laws, court procedures, regulations, guidelines, precedents, evidence admissibility, case preparation, and settlement practices. - Compliance:
Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring program compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. - Leadership:
Ability to influence, motivate, and challenge others while adapting leadership styles to varied situations. - Legal, Government, and Jurisprudence:
Understanding of legal codes, court procedures, precedents, legal documents, regulations, agency rules, and governmental functions. - Technical Credibility:
Applies principles and procedures related to specialized legal expertise appropriately.
Equivalent To Those Typically Gained By:
Post‑secondary or vocational education in a legal, paralegal, criminal justice, or similar field, or progressively responsible experience in legal, law enforcement, legislative, or social service environments.
