Corrections Nurse 1/2 Position
The Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Corrections Nurse 1/2 position located at Lemon Creek Correctional Center (LCCC) in Juneau, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide general nursing care to patients to include triage and assessment
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments
- Maintain patient medical records
- Observe, document, and report changes in the physical and mental conditions of inmates
- Handle Crisis situations in a calm and effective manner

The Department of Corrections provides for the health and welfare of offenders committed to the custody of AK DOC. The Working Environment You Can Expect:RN’s working at LCCC can expect a patient population of about 400 individuals. Nurses will need to become fluent in our policies, procedures, and protocols, have a deep understanding of their scope of practice, and be comfortable practicing in a highly autonomous setting.

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
Corrections Nurse 2Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska;
AND EITHER
Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Corrections Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska;
OR
One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse. Examples of this experience include but are not exclusively limited to prior service as a Corrections Nurse 1, Psychiatric Nurse 1, or Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.
SubstitutionCombinations of prior training and experience in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Med‑Surg, Psychiatric, Public Health, Critical Care) will be evaluated for comparability on a case‑by‑case basis.
