Manages the operation of nutrition services to ensure that a quality, nutritious, and cost effective meal program is available daily to students, staff, parents, and the community. The frequency and percentage of time of duties may vary based on building assignment.

• Manage daily operation of nutrition services and ensure quality meals are prepared and served in a cost-effective manner.
• Oversee use of commercial kitchen equipment with emphasis on safety and efficiency (steam tables, convection ovens, coolers, freezers, etc.).
• Coordinate with district staff to meet nutrition, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate with students, staff, parents, and community members regarding meal services as needed.
• Support adherence to DEC regulations and Serve Safe standards; obtain/maintain Serve Safe certification within the first 45 days of employment.
• Supervise kitchen staff and oversee training and development to maintain efficient operations.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in a position with the use of commercial kitchen equipment (steam tables, convection ovens, coolers, freezers, etc.), customer service, food preparation, and supervisory experience.
• Mathematical skills including basic calculations and application of job related math concepts.
• Ability to work with detailed information/data and maintain strict confidentiality of written and oral information and records.
• Per DEC regulations, must have or be able to pass Serve Safe course within the first 45 days of employment and maintain certification.
• A valid Alaska driver’s license and use of personal vehicle. Must be able to gain access to military installations.

• New Hire Hourly rate:
  Grade 4A: $19.19-$21.46 DOE
• Internal Hourly Rate:
  Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement
• Work day: 6 hours
• Work year: 9 months
• Bargaining unit:
  Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)
